Pampers Active Fit & Google Video

General Presentation

Pampers Active Fit was designed to fit every possible move a baby can come up with. This product even won the prize of the best disposable nappy. To promote Pampers Active Fit, Procter & Gamble thought of a micro site, where parents previously registered on pampers.com can upload videos of their babies performing the most amazing moves. After showcasing their babies' unique movements, parents have a chance of winning a one year's supply of Pampers Active Fit.

Atos Origin, one of our valued partners was considered as the contractor to deliver the technical solution and if it's about videos, well then...it's time for Google Video to make an entrance! Procter & Gamble initiated a partnership with Google, and now uses Google Video technology to stream uploaded videos.

CamelWeb Creations performed full service back office tasks, including business requirements analysis, website delivery and maintenance, together with resource supplying for the validation of videos. As a result, the Active Fit promotion is active in United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium (French & Dutch) and the North European countries of Sweden, Denmark and Finland.

Preparing the micro site

Starting from the Photoshop design templates delivered by Saatchi, our team has assured the HTML coding, using div patterns instead of slices and developed the micro site under 9 language versions. These are accessible by clicking on banner adverts placed on each country's Pampers website, or through e-mails sent to registered consumers. With Pampers Active Fit, parents step right into a universe of endless motion, and are presented with a number of static videos, facts and information about this product.

Once on the UK micro site, visitors can download the "Find Your Own Moves" class guide provided by Pampers in collaboration with Gymboree, the world's leading developmental program for babies and children, together with invitations for these interactive classes.

The video upload

The real challenge was to deliver in time a feasible solution to comply with the videos' condition of also being visible on Google. When a parent intends to upload a video of her/his baby, registration with Pampers is checked, and if the parent is not a member, she is being redirected to the Pampers registration page, and then back again to the upload page. New videos are temporary stored on a Atos Origin server until a scheduled task uploads them to Google, where videos are preliminary screened to eliminate unsuitable content. As a scheduled task works the same way a real person does, it will automatically accept the Google terms and conditions, or search the Google "upload video" link. After the video gets accepted by Google, it receives an ID number, and a thumbnail appearing on the "Little Movers Gallery" from the micro site is created. To make sure that the video really connects to babies' movements, it becomes subject of a second shrewd check, performed by two resources temporarily assigned for the period of the Active Fit promotion. The video is now ready to be enjoyed!

"The Mover of the Week" contest

The administration tool we have developed provides a list of links (thumbnails) to all videos, and offers the options of approval or rejection. Users have access to all videos previously approved or rejected, which are actually stored with Google. As we don't want to rush things over, videos can get approved even after they have been rejected by mistake. The system allows approval or rejection of multiple videos at the same time, and stores all the videos in case a submitter complains about a rejected video

Not only can parents upload videos, but they can also view all videos uploaded by other people, and pick their favorite. Every week, thanks to a voting system, one video gets selected to be the "Mover of the Week" and receives special attention on the micro site. Visitors can only vote one time for their preferred video.
